You must choose, but choose wisely.

I have two new yarns to show today. The first one is chock full of earthy goodness.

asu wl skein macro
Fiber: All Spun Up 100% Merino, "Woodland"
2 ply
410 yards
117 grams

Every fiber of Kristin's that I've spun has turned to gold, and this one is no exception. Her fibers are among the best prepared I've found, each one an absolute joy to spin. And her colors? They rock. If you're a spinner, do yourself a favor and procure some of this lovely stuff. And if you're not a spinner, well, Kristin also sells her own amazing handspun yarns.

Next up is a wool that's new to me—Targhee.

Fiber: Sweet Grass Wool 100% Targhee, "Hidden Canyon"
2 ply
360 yards
108 grams

What a lovely, bouncy wool Targhee is! It's now among my favorites to spin. These super-saturated colors from Sweet Grass Wool push all my happy buttons too. And did I mention the bounce? This wool has so much spring that I can practically hear it go "boing."

Now, about that contest... For the past couple of months, I have had vague plans to give away a skein of handspun on a blog contest. Various spinning commissions forced me to put off those plans, but now I have two yarns that I think are worthy of giving away to a good home. But which skein? After two nanoseconds of thinking about it, the answer was clear: Let the winner choose.

handspun contest
All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post indicating your choice. The contest will remain open through midnight (Central Daylight Time) on Sunday, May 4th. On May 5th (or a bit later), I'll select a winner at random. Anyone with a mailing address on Planet Earth is welcome to enter. (Humble apologies to any Martians who might be reading. I can't afford NASA's cargo fees.)

Good luck!

omg, after seeing what you sent to Bockstark and her spinning - I am not sure I can avoid the spinning bug much longer! These are both gorgeous! But I do favor the Targhee just a bit more:)

Wow those are both beautiful... it's very hard to choose. If forced to pick, I think I'd also go with the woodland.
Thanks for the generous offer to share!

I had the opportunity to fondle, and that makes the decision even MORE difficult, but I think the Woodland is my choice. Thanks!

Wow, what a difficult choice--and how hard to give either of those gorgeous skeins away! I'm big on rich, saturated colors, so I have to lean in the direction of Hidden Canyon. Great name, too.

Nothing like some handspun to bring out the delurkers huh?

Wouldn't the perfect combination be the Woodland colorway in the Targhee fiber? Just sayin'

How do you manage to spin everything so consistent? Both of those are absolutely stunning. I must know your secrets. ;-)

But if I must, I shall go for "Woodland".

Targhee is way under available. Great body and bounce. The woodland colors stayed very distinct. Will have to check her out after this weekend's buying binge at Md S&W fades from the bill-payer's memory.

Your handspun has made me want to learn to spin!!! I'd choose Woodland. Maybe someday I could spin as beautifully as you do!

I am in awe of your spinning prowess, and love both these skeins equally. How about if you draw my name you toss a coin, then don't tell me which skein it is so I get a big surprised in the mail!

I have to go with the Hidden Canyon. I love your site because as a new spinner your reviews of the fibers are helpful. I've procured some of All Spun Up's fiber already!

Thanks for offering a contest.

I missed the deadline. :( I was away at a crafts show until last night, and we just moved into a new house on Wednesday. We have no furniture yet, just two kids, two adults and one bed. I sure like your Woodland handspun. :) Jessie
